This year, 2024, we celebrate 46 years since our founding in 1978 as Pan Africa Christian College and 16 years since we were chartered as Pan Africa Christian University in 2008.

History

The Institution was originally founded as a Bible College in 1978 by the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC). It was then known as Pan Africa Christian College (PACC). It was established on the site of the former Lumumba Institute along Lumumba Drive, Nairobi (the current Thika Road campus), where classes commenced on May 2 (1978) with six students.

Here are the important milestones of the College by year:

  • 1983: The first graduating class receives Degrees in cooperation with the ICI University, USA
  • 1985: The Commission for Higher Education is established and PAC College is registered as an existing private university
  • 2003: The existing curriculum of PAC College is approved, and it begins to offer its own Degrees
  • 2006: Final Institution Inspection and recommendation for the award of Charter by the Commission for Higher Education takes place

This marked a significant milestone as the first PAOC University in the world. The Charter award ceremony was held at the Thika Road campus, where Dr. Kirk Kauffeldt was also installed as the first-ever Vice Chancellor and Bishop Emeritus Boniface Adoyo as the first-ever Chancellor.
